Crepeaffair

1. Crepeaffair

If you’re already in Leeds city centre then Crepeaffaire is an easy, and great choice for desserts. Located on the first floor of the Trinity centre Crepeaffaire is located among a variety of coffee shops, but follow the smell of fresh pancakes and you’ll easily find them. With a range of crepes, waffles and assorted other delights it’s hard to find a reason to leave once you’re inside. Just in case you needed another reason to visit, a portion of Crepeaffaire’s profits from each coffee go to buy and protect the rainforest’s their coffee comes from. An ethical coffee? We’ll take three.

Gelato Passion

2. Gelato Passion

With two locations in the Leeds area, one in Beeston and one in Headingley, Gelato Passion is somewhere you can go to twice in one day… not that we’ve done that… Their menu is unashamedly gelato heavy, with part of it devoted just to chocolate based ice-cream shakes. There are also slightly lighter treats on the menu and the most refreshing Pina Colada milkshake you’ll ever try. But they also have ice-cream floats that Americans would drool over; and you don’t see that on the Leeds dessert scene every day.

Ice Scoop Gelato

3. Ice Scoop Gelato

For those in and around Hyde Park one of the best options for the best dessert in Leeds is Ice Scoop Gelato. Open late and located in the heart of Hyde Park you’ll find groups of friends, students and families all sitting on fuchsia pink sofas waiting in anticipation for their orders. With waffles and brownies piled high with every ice cream flavour you can name, plus a few more, everyone watches with food envy until their dessert comes out. When everyone has their orders silence falls – you can’t talk and devour ice-cream at the same time!

Ecco Pizzeria

4. Ecco Pizzeria

Just in case you think a day devoted to desserts is too much, you can start with pizza at Ecco Pizzeria in Headingley before trying all the wonderful desserts they have. There are desserts which play on the pizza theme, and dough balls with Nutella are a personal favourite, but there are also plenty of classic Italian gelatos and other desserts to choose from. On a sunny day the benches outside are hard to come by, but it’s definitely worth the wait if you want to stay in and eat.

Northern Bloc

5. Northern Bloc

Finally, we come to Northern Bloc, an ice-cream company that are quickly becoming a household name in Leeds and the North as a whole. Whilst they’re not a restaurant, sometimes the best dessert is one that you can enjoy from home. Their menu combines classic ice cream flavours with refreshing twists that you expect to see in a fancy restaurant rather than in your freezer. If you didn’t already love them enough, it’s easy to love that their milk from local farmers to knowing that all of their products are gluten free and vegetarian friendly!
