Bossa’s passion for life and food comes across before you’ve even had a single bite. There’s no perfect English translation for the word ‘bossa’ but the closest you really get is “cool, fun and a feeling you’d drop everything for,” or so we’re told. Well, after spending an evening at the restaurant, we’d definitely drop everything for a chance to go back again!

For any carnivores, Bossa is a paradise, and for any worried vegetarians and pescetarians out there, Bossa has plenty of options for you too. So, back to the experience! Each table has a small painted cow, fondly known as ‘Felipe’ and he is your new best friend. When you have his green head up, the waiters will keep bringing over more and more things for you to try. Then, when you finally need to stop, just flip over Felipe and show his red belly, it’s that simple.

I really want more, but I cant!

The portions of meat you receive each time appear fairly modest, but you’ll be amazed by how quickly you’ll fill up, even the biggest of appetites disappear quickly. It’s rare for us to reach the point of “I really want to eat it, but I just can’t…” but one by one we all had to stop. For us, there’s no question about value for money, we’d recommend going when you’re really hungry though, you’ll love it all the more. If you can manage dessert there are a few options, our favourite though? It would have to be the churros, just make sure you wait for them to cool down slightly!

We were also treated to Brazil’s national drink Caipirinha, which is so sweet, fresh, and the perfect pairing with such rich meats. There is also a wonderful selection of other cocktails, wines and beers available which showcase the endless range of things Brazil does fantastically. The flavours are big, punchy and cannot be ignored, it’s like the food and drinks are having a small carnival of their own.

Passionate about food and drink

The staff are amazingly attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food and drinks they serve. If the servers are confident about the dishes they’re serving, it’s usually safe to say that the customers will love it too. Everything is made with care, right down to the last details and lingering flavours. So, with a relaxed setting and a carnival-like soundtrack, Bossa attracts every kind of groups, looking around there were young and old families, couples and collections of friends dotted around the space.

This is the soul of Bossa and Rio, a place where everyone can come together and enjoy themselves, no matter what their stage of life! You’ll find us back there before long, attempting to eat everything as quickly as the kitchen and bar can prepare it…
